From your study throughout the semester, you have been introduced to a number of critical factors that can affect the quality and safety of health services provided by individual organisations and by the system as a whole. Some of the key factors are related to human factors such as:
- Leadership and support to clinicians, practitioners and other health professionals;
- Transparent and clear role for practitioners in service and patient quality and safety
- Effective communication between practitioners and patients
- Effective communication within the organisation which may include a timely reporting mechanism and no blame culture
Please use an organisation that you are familiar with or a sector as an example, to explore and discuss to what extent the above factors that are critical to improving the quality and safety of health services have been addressed and to what extent these efforts are effectively monitored and measured for continuous improvement.
