Aug 7, 2023

Unit 2: Taking a Stand: Argument

You might want to answer this one AFTER completing the reflection assignments for the week: Last unit you created brainstorms and outlines for some of your own argumentative topics, and in this unit you produced argumentative thesis statements. Share one of the argumentative topics you used in these exercises. Why did you pick this topic? It is important to you personally? Take a stand on that topic, and briefly support it using some of the ideas you generated through these exercises. Remember that initial discussion posts must thoughtfully address the topic, and must be at least 125 words.

Unit 2: Taking a Stand: Argument

In this discussion, I will take an argumentative stand on the topic of Arranged Marriage. Arranged Marriage has always been considered an issue in, third-world countries. In the last few decades, the social structure of third-world countries has proved to be stronger. Third-world countries with their tight-knit family structure have managed to inspire the desirable qualities of loyalty. The quality of loyalty has attracted me to the subject of Arranged marriage. Personally, I feel loyalty and trustworthiness are extremely essential in a relationship, and therefore Arranged marriages should become the norm. Hence, arranged marriage has turned out to be a great alternative. Arranged Marriage is based on the solid structure of the family, and therefore with the domestic backing, a relationship fostered under such a structure will prove to be stronger, than a relationship developed on a whimsical concept like love (Khurshid, 2018, p.10). Families logically tend to have a better understanding of an individual. Hence, their selection in most cases proves to be a better-suited choice for the person in the condition.
