1. What is your general topic or what problem area are you interested in? How would you express it in a few words?
The General Topic or the Problem area that I am interested in is Gun Control in America. Gun Control is a huge issue prevalent in American society. The mainstream prevalence of this issue is unfortunately because of the numerous mass shootings that have happened in America. America is a land of many cultures, and though it is a great country, it is not the only one to have that. Similarly, mental issues like depression and social evils like bullying are not only active in America. Many if not all countries have and suffer from these issues. Even then mass shootings are a disturbingly high phenomenon in America compared to other countries. America in the last decade experienced almost 160 mass shootings, the country which was second in this harrowing category was Germany with just six, not even entering double digits (Spieller, 8). The issue which is the root cause is undoubtedly gun control. It is extremely easy to acquire a Gun in America compared to other countries. The monitoring of such weapons is dismal and there is a huge market for them, which makes it easier for anybody to buy them. The ease with which guns are available in America has historical reasons. These reasons make it harder for laws to be made that change the way Guns are so easily available. A solid change must comeGun-inducenoto operate soon because America in its present cannot live with a historical perspective on this issue. The need for today is that Guns and their market are monitored by competent authorities.
2. What central question are you trying to answer about your topic?
The central question that I want to answer about Gun Control, is whether it should increase in America, because of the present violence the lack of it has caused in America. The reasoning behind it getting increased is clear and present in actual data. America is ahead of every country in the world in terms of mass shootings. Even in terms of Gun induced deaths, America has no visible competition. The issues that have been cited as the cause behind all the violence in terms of shooting and Gun violence are also present in other countries, but it is only America where there is so much of Gun violence. It is extremely easy to gain a gun in America. There are not apt procedures in place to determine that the authority of operating a gun is given to a person with responsibility. In contrast, the procedures in place to acquire a Gun in countries like Russia and England are way more complex and detailed. The mental evaluation required by the American government can be done by a third party (Spieller, 6). This is a huge problem as in many cases the evaluation has turned out to be fraudulent. The American government needs to employ its specialists and create a centralized system to ensure that only people in a healthy mental state garner a firearm. This is a way in which gun control can be increased.

The best answer to the central question is that Gun control should increase in America. America has the highest amount of deaths due to guns. This means that there is something that the American authorities are not doing properly which is Gun Control. There is a huge black market that has been created because of the ease with which Guns can be provided in America. The main reason authorities are afraid to increase gun control in America is that many believe that it compromises the basic liberty of people, by restricting their freedom (Franzen, 2). Though by not increasing Gun control another form of liberty is being compromised which is the freedom to live without fear. If anybody can acquire a gun there is always a fear looming amongst people that they can be murdered or hurt for no fault of their own. There is a choice between liberties of two kinds, and the latter seems an urgent and valid requirement. Places like schools and children should be safe. Therefore my main point will be to argue that Gun control gives people the liberty to live freely without worries of a harrowing death and that it is the responsibility of authorities to provide this freedom.
4. In one sentence, how would you describe your findings to someone who asked you about your research?
America needs to increase its Gun control, to decrease Gun-induced violence, which is not such a huge phenomenon in other countries because of the preventive policies in place in those countries. In this one sentence, I will describe my findings to someone.
5. How does your idea differ from other views you have read? What do you have to say about a topic that is new?
The view that I hold about Gun control is in opposition to the view that Gun Control compromises the liberty of American Civilians. Americans have huge pride in the aspect of liberty. This pride has been one of the basic tenets of America as a country. An overwhelming amount of people believe that as Americans they have the right to safeguard themselves with a firearm. They believe that in times of danger, they should not be forced to wait for authorities to help them. They should be able to do that themselves. I do not agree with this, many people believe that Gun control should happen despite this, I believe it should happen in opposition to this. This kind of liberty is uncontrollable and has led to many wrongful killings. The power to seriously injure and kill people should not be provided without training. My viewpoint does not consider this kind of liberty as a plausible reason.
