Section 1
The three most important traits of the team leader are stated below-
Passion– One of the important traits of the team leader is that the team leader must have passion for the work. Passion can be considered an important trait in the leader it helps the leaders to take the correct action and the decisions that are necessary for the organization. The team leader should be passionate about the work what work needs to be performed and how the work gets performed as well. If the passion is there in the work the team leader will get the success at the work as well. Passion helps to motivate the leaders to work harder and give the position energy to work in the organization.
Teamwork– The team leader should always believe in teamwork and should always empathize with the teamwork as well. If the teamwork is performed then the work gets completed properly and within the provided time as well. Teamwork needs to be done so that the growth in the organization can take place as well. If teamwork is there in the organization, then the productivity of the organization will also increase (Jabbar & Hussin, 2019, p.37). Teamwork helps to motivate other people as well. If the leader has the quality, then it is good for the organization.
Social skills– The social skill here refers to the interaction with the people in the organization if the leader can properly interact and communicate with the people and the teammates of the organization then the organization can run more effectively. It can be said that the leader should possess this social skill so that he can able to understand the other person and be able to interact with and motivate them as well. Interpersonal skill helps to interact with the other person properly and effectively as well.
Courage– One of the most important traits that leaders should have is courage in the work it can be said that the leaders should have the courage to handle and tackle the work properly (Barelds et al. 2018, p.2). The leader should always be courageous so that he can able to handle any difficult situations properly. This trait should be present and important for leaders. As the leader, various important decisions are meant to be taken for the organization and they can only be taken if the leader is courageous enough to take the decision properly (McClean et al. 2019, p.480). The lack of courage in the leaders led to the weakening of the organization. The leaders need to be tough enough to make the necessary decisions for the organization.
The three most important behaviors of the team leader are stated below-
Active listening– Active listening can help you not only retain more information but also better understand what is being said. It boosts your emotional intelligence and makes you a more empathetic leader. Active listening enables you to better understand your employees’ struggles and avoid misunderstandings. As a strategy to improve leadership skills, active listening can encourage stronger communication between you and your team members (Phong, Hui & Son, 2018, p.705). While the roots of active listening are in therapeutic settings, it has practical applications in the workplace as well, given appropriate parameters. Active listening is an important part of the organization if the leader actively listens to the communication made in the organization, then he can make the necessary decision as well related to it.
Motivation- One of the most important behaviors that a leader should possess is motivation. Motivation is an essential thing in organizational leaders should always motivate their employees to work properly and effectively so that all the work can be performed properly and effectively as well. The motivation behavior should be there in the leaders because the leaders should always be motivated and motivate the others as well as perform the work properly and effectively. If the leaders are motivated toward the work, then they can able to motivate the other members towards the job and will encourage them to do better in the work.
Self-awareness- If the leader is self-aware of what work needs to be performed and how to perform then the growth in the organization can take place effectively and properly as well. It can be said that self-awareness should be there in the organization because if self-awareness is there in the leaders, then the leader can know what needs to be done and what necessary decisions are to be taken. The self-awareness of the work helps the leaders to understand the work and helps employees as well in providing the information related to the work as well. It helps in the growth of the organization as well.
Honesty- Effective leaders are generally viewed as honest by employees. They keep everyone abreast of what is going on within the organization — good and bad. Leaders who cover all sides are much more appreciated than leaders who conceal information that could easily be communicated It can be said that honesty is an important factor of the leader because if the leader is honest toward the teammates and the work then their employees will be live on the leaders and will support him in the work as well as a decision taken by the leaders as well (Alward & Phelps, 2019, p.75). Honesty is the key point to building a good relationship with the employees in the organization. Honesty in leaders is one of the most important behaviors that should be there in leaders. The honesty in the behavior shows the fairness and openness of the behavior. If the leaders are honest toward the organization and the teammates then the teammates will trust their leaders and will try to take the advice of the leaders as well. Honesty helps to build a good relationship between the teammates and leaders as well.
The beliefs about those traits, behaviors, or skills supported by the academic literature on leadership
I believe in those traits, behaviors, or skills supported by the academic literature on leadership. It is because that traits and behavior are the important points or the characteristics that should be there in the leaders so that the leaders can help in the growth of the organization as well. The trait and, the behavior is supported by the academic literate and it is correct as well. The leaders are an essential part of the organization (Ferreira da Silva, & Costa, 2019, p.118). A leader is an innovator and creator whereas a manager is a commander. The leader is the charge of the team and the team can run properly and effectively if the leader is good. The main work of the leaders is to guide the team and make the strategy so that the team can able to complete the work and achieve the goal within the time limits as well. The leaders guide their teammates in their work and help them in taking the necessary action as well.
It can be said that the leader should have leadership qualities because if the leaders possess the proper qualities, then it will help in the growth of the organization. The behavior and the traits and an essential part of the leaders and if the leader possesses this quality, then it will help the leaders to make a good relationship with the teammates and the work will be performed more smoothly and more effectively as well. The organization can run properly without any issues as well. The belief supported by the academic lectures is correct because the leaders are the main part of the organization and their duties are to maintain the proper work and be helpful to their teammates and help the organization as well. If the leaders have these qualities, then it is believed that it has the leader can perform well help in the smooth functioning of the organization, and make the correct decision for the organization.
How do values and beliefs impact leadership style?
Leadership values and beliefs values determine how you execute leadership, the team environment you create, and the success of your company. The values you display as a leader will permeate your entire organization and affect its performance. Leaders who adhere to their values earn respect and commitment from their teams. Value and belief are important parts of leaders. These values and beliefs help the leaders to understand their duties and responsibilities toward their work in the organization. The value; use and belief create the foundation of the leaders. It shows what the leaders are and what are thinking. The good values and the beliefs of the leaders make the organization grow and stable in the work as well. The values and beliefs create a positive impact on the leaders and their team members (Katilienė, 2018, p.2). It is known that good values help in the growth of the organization.
The importance of values and beliefs are stated below-
Guidance– One of the major importance of the values and beliefs in the leadership style is guidance. Guidance is an important part of leadership. Good values and beliefs will guide the leaders to perform the work properly and accurately as well. If the proper guidance is there then the leader can act properly. The values and beliefs guide the leader to choose the correct part so that work can be performed properly and effectively as well. Good values and beliefs help to guide the leaders on what they need to perform and what they need to look after. The proper guidance is provided to the leader so that they can work properly without any issues. The guidance helps to know what things they should be more focused on and on which things need to be varied in the work. Good values and beliefs always guide the leader to make the correct decisions and actions in the organization so that the organization’s growth can take place and work can be done smoothly and more effectively as well.
Recognition–. The values and the beliefs are an important part of the organization because if the leader attains the good values and beliefs in the organization then the growth in the ledger will take place which will ultimately help in gaining recognition in the organization as well. Genuine recognition rewards efforts along with accomplishments. It reinforces positive behaviors, builds self-esteem and confidence, and boosts motivation and enthusiasm. Encouraging employees to praise teammates. If the leader attains good values and belief in the organization that it will help to gain a reputation in the organization (Ajzenman, Cavalcanti & Da Mata, 2020, p.2). The organization and the teammates will respect the leaders for their values and will oblige his decisions taken for the organization as well. If good values are there in leadership, then respect will also be increased in the organization the people will respect the leaders as well. Good beliefs and values help in the growth of the leaders to get the praises and help to build self-esteem as well in the organization.
Decision-making– Good values and beliefs help in the decision-making process. The decision-making can only be done if the leaders have the proper knowledge related to whether what he is doing is correct or not. Leaders with good values and beliefs always make sure that the decision he is m, making will be good for the organization and its team members as well. He will not only think of himself but also his organization and its teammates (Sun, & Shang, 2019, p.5). The proper decision can only be made if the leaders have known about the good values and the beliefs of the organization. Good values have a positive impact on the decision-making process where the leader always make sure that when he makes the decision he should interact with other and take the other team member advice as well. Good team leaders always make sure that they indulge the team in the decision-making process and make them feel good as well. The proper decision can only be made by the team members and the leaders together to decide for the organization as well. The values and beliefs make sure the leaders have learned the good things and make sure to bring out positive changes in the organization as well.
Fairness- It can be said that fairness in the work is an important part of the organization as well. so, the work Should be done with fairness. Good values and beliefs make the leaders understand fairness in the work and the organization. Good value leaders always believe that they should always maintain fairness in the work because if fairness is not there then no one will trust them. Fairness should be there in the organization otherwise growth cannot take place in the organization as well. It can be said that if fairness is there the employees will get connected to the organization and will trust the organization that they will receive equal chances in the work as well (Lorber, Treven & Mumel, 2018, p.605). Equal opportunity should be provided to every employee in the organization by the leaders and this can only be done if the leaders have good values and beliefs. Good values help the leaders to make the correct and fair decisions for the organization.
Honesty- Honesty in the workplace encourages a sense of trust among employees, the company, and the community. The leadership style and environment in the workplace often affect the level of honesty employees exhibit on the job. Honest leaders are always appreciated in the organization named people to believe the leaders as well in their work and their working process. Honesty because to be honest toward the organization and the work and if the work is done with honesty and gritty then growth and stability in the business can take place in the organization in the long run. Honesty brings a reputation in the market as well. The honesty in the leaders takes place with the good beliefs and values so it can be said that the beliefs and values incorporate good leaders.
What are your top three strengths/skills/abilities related to leadership?”
It is debatable whether someone is born with leadership skills or has to develop them. Certain traits are required of effective leaders. People can either learn particular qualities or are born with them.
Personal characteristics of effective leaders
A great leader has an ideal personality. Gaining the confidence of followers is essential for a leader to effectively lead them. A leader has to be respected for living a moral life and for being trustworthy. A capable leader “walks the walk” and gains the authority to be held responsible for others as a result.
True leadership is built on respect for a person’s integrity and dependability. An effective leader is committed to their position, their cause, and their leadership duties (Fleck et al. 2019). People will respond more directly to someone motivated and enthusiastic. The ability to inspire people to take the required action or support the desired cause is a skill that leaders must possess.
Even if a leader’s tasks and accountability may vary, they must still be viewed as an essential member of the team working toward the objective. Such a leader does not mind getting their hands dirty or donning an apron. A confident leader emanates strength.
Leaders must exude self-assurance in both their abilities and their capacity to guide and persuade others. Such a person inspires others with their self-assurance, gains their trust, and marshals the team’s best efforts to successfully finish the assignment. When the team leader radiates confidence in the outcome they want, the team members give it their all (Zeike et al. 2019).
A leader must maintain order and focus when things are unclear. People look to a leader for stability and comfort amid times of unpredictability and unfamiliarity when that leader exhibits confidence and a positive attitude.
Good leaders can remain calm in the face of uncertainty and keep their attention on the main goal. Storms, emotions, and crises come and go, but a good leader recognizes them as necessary components of the journey and keeps his or her cool (Nieuwboer et al. 2019). An excellent leader is analytical in their thinking and keeps their focus on the main objective. In addition to seeing a problem as a whole, a successful leader can break it down into more manageable, smaller parts for further analysis. The objective is not just clear; a great leader can divide it into doable steps and move closer to it.
A capable leader is dedicated to doing their job correctly. Failure results from giving less than your utmost effort. A good leader aggressively raises the bar to achieve excellence everywhere and continuously sets high standards.
“How do those equip you to become a better leader?”
A great leader must possess these character traits. Leaders may be more prone to exhibit particular personality qualities. However, each of these qualities might be improved. Regardless of whether these traits are natural or not, a good leader will work to cultivate them as part of their leadership style. I can stay calm and preserved, which will help me to articulate any major decision with all my cool. Having good and strong communication will also help my negotiation skills, which is one of the most important aspects of leading an organization.
“What are two skills or abilities that you need to develop to become a better leader?”
A leader must be dependable and well-known for living an honest and honorable life.
Respect for the excellent character and trustworthiness of the individual who leads is the source of true authority. A leader plays a pivotal role in the management of a company. A major part of the company’s decision-making, recruitment, and management of any project depends on the leader.
Though there are many qualities that one must possess to be a good and effective leader, I believe that self-awareness and negotiation skills will help me the most to make me a better leader. I believe that focusing on a few character attributes can help me become a better leader. One of the most crucial leadership skills that people in positions of responsibility must achieve is self-awareness (Zeike et al. 2019).
Furthermore, because situational awareness is critical for self-management, I would want to practice it. Until and unless I am aware of myself unless I know what is happening around me unless I know how to manage myself, I will not be able to manage any company. Being aware of self will also aid in staying up to date with all the happenings around the world. My major goal is to improve my ability to communicate effectively. Finally, I would like to improve my negotiation skills. In the business world, negotiation plays the most important role in managing and contracting deals.
A better negotiation skill will always aid in better revenue collection and an increase in the rate of profit earned by the company. This can be done only by making my communication skills effective. Effective communication skills will make sure that there are no loopholes, and that the entire process of the business is meted out smoothly, with proper cooperation among the workforce (Zeike et al. 2019). Moreover, good communication skills will also add to the effectiveness of the management of the organization.
Negotiation skills are basic in different bits of life, however, they are particularly tremendous in business. In the ongoing persevering economy, the capacity to capably coordinate is an exceptionally respected association brand name. Other high-profile purposes for living and CEOs require magnificent negotiation limits (Fleck et al. 2019). Having extraordinary abilities to deal with may be the separation between an effective and inadequate understanding. Firms that fittingly deal increment their fundamental concern as well as their standing.
Negotiation limits are fundamental in business, yet moreover in ordinary presence. The negotiation requires a relationship between the pioneer’s skills like a way of thinking game-plan, correspondence, putting down some reasonable compromise, effect, and comparability building. To be more unequivocal, to find a decent blueprint, middle people should research an issue while contemplating each party’s advantages and sorting out its associate’s longings. An awe-inspiring middle person looks for areas of shared income, and supportive energies, and investigates their rival to perceive shared characteristics to address going before the negotiation meeting.
“Why are those important and how can you develop those skills and abilities?”
Leaders must be present at all organizational levels and respond quickly to continuously changing demands when presented with difficult decisions. One’s leadership is always on display, and it may be utilized to determine how engaged a certain employee is. Rapid decision-making needs immediate answers, actions, and impacts (Karagianni & Jude Montgomery, 2018). The boss must stay with the decision no matter what, even if the team members find it difficult and unpopular. As important as the decision itself is the buy-in that comes with it. The effectiveness of the team and the company will be impacted by your leadership style (Karagianni & Jude Montgomery, 2018).
I can successfully lead others if I am completely aware of who I am. As a leader, I must be conscious of both my advantages and disadvantages. To identify your leadership style, I must be able to honestly assess myself.
Being aware of my surroundings is a trait of natural leadership. Knowledge of both internal and external events that have an impact on the organization is essential (Nieuwboer et al. 2019). The best leaders are always conscious of their environment.
Strong communicators are seen as leaders who can communicate well. In any organization, if I can effectively communicate with others, I can manage and lead them. People will appreciate me if I have this excellent leadership characteristic, and issues will not emerge. Negotiation skills are a must for effective leaders.
Any company must have the power to negotiate contracts. It creates a scenario in which everyone benefits and raises the possibility of reaching the desired outcome (Fleck et al. 2019). The ability to successfully bargain is one of the leadership qualities necessary to advance up the corporate ladder and into a senior position.
The majority of people would identify the same traits as good leaders if asked to describe them. Examples include being direct and honest, employing effective delegating techniques, being dedicated to one’s work, being innovative, adopting a positive approach, and, maybe most importantly, having trust in one’s abilities.
Understanding my strengths may make it simpler for me to locate colleagues who are similar to or complement my skills, enabling me to capitalize on their enthusiasm while also recognizing and addressing any weaknesses to improve the team as a whole.
