Sources that must be incorporated into your response are: Chapter 4 of Guerrero et al. (2014), Afifi and Weiner (2004), and Afifi, Dillow, and Morse, (2004).

  1. Both Brashers’ Uncertainty Management theory and Afifi’s Theory of Motivated Information Management offer explanations for how we experience and respond to uncertainty. Discuss (a) the ways in which these two explanations overlap and (b) how Afifi’s Theory of Motivated Information Management extends/develops/builds upon Brashers’ Uncertainty Management theory. In your response, define key terms as they are used and use evidence for the chapters and research studies to build and justify your claims
  2. Why is studying uncertainty important in interpersonal communication? You may address the benefits of understanding how uncertainty influences information management, how it is changed through communication, the social implications increased knowledge of uncertainty management, how it affects health and/or relational quality, etc. Use evidence for the chapters and research studies for your claim
