1.Draw or build a nephron.
2.Identify these parts of the kidney parenchyma on your drawing or model:
a)Renal corpuscle, glomerulus, visceral and parietal layers of the glomerular (Bowman’s) capsule, PCT, Loop of Henle (nephron loop), DCT, collecting tubule and duct, cortical and juxtamedullary nephrons, Juxtaglomerular apparatus (DCT, macula dense cells, granular renin-producing cells, extraglomerular mesangial cells)
3.Identify which filtrates are fully reabsorbed
4.Identify which filtrates are partially reabsorbed.
5.Identify which blood products are not normally filtered or secreted.
6.Connect the terms osmosis, simple diffusion, facilitated diffusion, active transport, bulk transport, bulk flow, transcellular transport and paracellular transport to the formation and concentration of urine. Correctly use each term.
a)Write in complete sentences and reference your answers as usual, in text and in a works cited section. One of your sources must be your textbook (it could be your only source).
b)Identify where these phenomena occur in the nephron.
c)Give one example of a molecule that is moved by each of the above phenomena.
i)For instance….Water moves by osmosis from within the proximal convoluted tubule to the interstitial fluid.
7.Draw a labeled cross-section view of the ureter, name the method (physiological term) used to transfer urine from the kidney to the bladder and describe that movement in lay terms
