You have been asked to provide a Human Resource Development Plan for the extension of the services offered by King & Queen Hotel Suites in New Plymouth. The owners plan to further develop the business and build Mt Taranaki Resort in Oakura, on the lower reaches of Mt Taranaki. This luxury boutique accommodation will offer an exclusive outdoor experience. Mt Taranaki Resort will offer luxurious accommodation with unparalleled views of Mt Taranaki and the Taranaki coast. The Resort is located on the edge of national parks, marine reserves, pristine wilderness and niche retail opportunities are a short drive.

Initially the facility will comprise of four Bed and Breakfast double rooms, eight villas (maximum 8 per villa) a cam & Bar and recreational facilities

• Fishing

•Mountaineering

• Bushwalks

• Quad bike exploration

• Scenic helicopter flights

The Mt Taranaki Resort is not only about luxury and wilderness but also about peaceful relaxation. Facilities will include hydrotherapy spa, infrared sauna, gymnasium and heated indoor pool.

The King and Queen Hotel Suites Human Resource Director will develop the human resource plan for hotel services at the Mt Taranaki Retreat but has secured your professional services as a Sheffield Senior Consultant to develop the human resource plan for the recreational and wilderness experiences.

Your project brief:

1. You are to develop a strategic human resource management plan for the following services:

  •  Tramping & Hiking
  • Swimming
  •  Fishing
  •  Mountaineering .
  • Bushwalking
  • Quad bike exploration

2.Provide justification for the plan drawing on published research and literature that supports innovation and best practice.

3. Prepare job descriptions for Team Leaders for the following recreations:

  • Tramping and hiking leader
  • Beauty therapist
  • Gymnasium instructor

4. Develop a health and safety policy

5. Develop a staff development program for the initial six months that ensures new staff adopt the King and Queen Hotel brand.

6. Recommend two staff appraisal systems that will ensure minimisation of risk.

7. Prepare a process for determining customer satisfaction
