The process of questioning a group of prospective jurors (known as the venire) is called voir dire (“to speak the truth”). Based on the answers, lawyers for the parties may file a challenge to excuse a prospective juror from the case. Assume you are an attorney in a civil case. During voir dire, you find out that one of the prospective jurors has seen every episode of the television series Law and Order, including all of the spin-off shows. You like the juror but suddenly opposing counsel objects, challenging the woman for cause and asking the judge to dismiss the TV-watching citizen. How do you think the judge will rule?
