Carry out your own experiment to demonstrate the discharging characteristics of a resistor/capacitor (RC) circuit; and produce a written lab report to describe the topic being investigated, explain the experiment(s) you are carrying out, and to present and discuss the results of the experiment(s). Further details and guidance for the report is given below.
Demonstrating the Discharging characteristics of an RC Circuit:
Introduction and Background: Describe what capacitors are, what role they play in electronic circuits, and how they behave with direct currents. Also for this section you should describe Resistor! Capacitor (RC) circuits.
Experiment: Design your own experiment to capture the data required to plot a graph that will demonstrate the discharging characteristics of a capacitor in an RC circuit with direct current. You should end up with a graph displaying similar characteristic to that in Figure 1.
For the experiment, you will need to build/simulate an RC circuit with direct current and you will find it helpful to include an interactive switch to switch between charging and discharging phases. To take measurements, you can use various voltmeters and/or ammeters positioned correctly in the circuit. Hint: Remember you can pause a Multisim simulation to take readings at approximate times.
You can discuss your ideas and your experiment design with your tutor.
Lab report: Write up this experiment in your lab report. You should have your Introduction and Background sections explaining what capacitors are etc.; a Methodology section to describe your experiment(s) in detail: Graphs: Discussions of the results; and a Conclusion. To help with your explanations you might also want to include Table(s) of results, and Circuit diagrams.

Results and Graphs,Discussions,and Conclusions:The results should be accurate and clearly presented(may be a table as well a graph).The Graph must be correctly labeled and clear to understand.The discussions should be relevant to the result gathered and the experiment carried out.The conclusions should be reflective of the experiment (i.e.what went well,what could be changed and/or improved,etc)
